Grace N. Rogers Elementary School

Grades 3, 4, and 5 are NJSLA, English Language Arts and Math, testing  May 5-9.  Students will complete one unit of testing each da,y which will last about 90 minutes.

Additionally, 5th graders only will have NJSLA Science testing on May 12 and 13.

Please see some additional information below:

  • Talk to your student about remaining calm. The test is an opportunity for them to show what they know. The information we get helps us help them next year.

  • Students should eat a good breakfast and get to school on time. Our cafeteria also serves breakfast if you prefer they eat here.

  • Please note that to ensure test security, homeroom teachers will need to collect all smart watches and cell phones. They will be returned to students before they go home each day. I encourage you to have your student leave those items at home, if possible, on test days if they don’t want to give their watch/phone to their teacher.

  • If your child(ren)is going to be absent, please let your student's teacher and the Main Office know as soon as you can.  Test make-ups will be May 12 and 13 for 3rd and 4th grade and May 14 and 19 for 5th grade.

This year, we are participating in a school-wide author study of Candace Fleming. I am sharing our slides with you so you have information on Candace and her books and can do some of the activities at home with your students.

We will have a schoolwide assembly with Candace Fleming on May 19 as our culminating event for the study.
