PowerPoint presentation that you will see so all of that will be available for you you do not need to worry about that getting you trying to copy notes and stuff like that so I'm going to take over here so I can share with you our prayers Haitian and other said we'll be working through as much as we can sit on Ur time so we tried to keep this in a 35-minute frame and within that 35 minutes were hoping to be able to put on everything possible that we can into the 30 minutes so if you just give me a half a second please and it will have that up and this is where my computer is going to cause a truck apologize small do you want me to share my screen and you can get started talking can you say thank you so as mrs. share PowerPoint with you I can go through so one of the things that we are looking to do we are looking to make sure that we are seeing our parents and our families as supports for us we are not asking our parents and families to be teachers or asking you to be the support that we will go and ask for all of our families because in this crazy world we will have some changes some flexibility that we will need to have one here so we go through we're trying to make sure that everything that we are giving you will be the support that you need to help your child if they come home so everything that we talked to you now we will be training our students with we will please talking to her students making sure that are comfortable and everything that we are doing we are not going to ask parents to teach any of these things but as your child comes home and there may be there a little unsure we're going to give you the resources so that you can go through and help them ever you need to so one of the things that we want to look at that are different if you'll notice the page prior to this they had all the links that if you want just one specific topic you can click on that and it will take you to the so we will be ready for you can just go to that and I'll have to go through the whole presentation and then what we are trying to go through I have some people saying I have a hard time hearing me is everybody having a hard time hearing me okay so one of the things that we want to make sure is that to be able to present to you some of the differences that are happening between what occurred what we call crisis teaching and learning that happened in the spring and what were doing now and what we're doing now is a well-thought-out plans practice that we're putting in knowing some of the things that we learned it did not work and some of the things that did work in the spring and say how come you the best educational experience for our students and making sure that your children feel safe and in a learning environment that they are very happy to be in So within our next fight we talked about the live instruction sew in this spring we had opportunities for live instruction but we weren't necessarily there with the student the entire time being very mindful that new parents who were in and out with different job who was in a central workers know who trying to go through doing million things so we allowed the flexibility to happen with a child couldn't get online until 10 in the morning or 2 in the afternoon we are going to actually have live instruction this time and what we mean by live instruction is the heavy Trinity that we would in it typical brick-and-mortar think that teachers will be able to use the time that they're meeting with students being able to find out what is it that they're learning what it what is the understand what don't they understand and to be able to ask questions at that point it may not have to wait 24 hours to go through it like what we would call the quote-unquote typical classroom experience that they would have and then within our next slide that we come into looking at we're going to ask some support if there's a possibility for you to help us with this is it what we know in our classroom when the students come in our classroom they're ready to work they know it's a learning environment we're going to ask if it's possible for you to create some small space within the home whether it's the child's bedroom what are the living room the kitchen the dining whatever it is that you can say that this is where you will be when it comes to school so that the child knows that when they go there this is why they put on their hat that says I'm a student down I'm working in here and that will also let them take ownership winter learning that when they come in this space if they're ready to go so that's what we're going to ask if there's a possibility of going to do now the next thing we're going to talk about other resources that we are we provide now in this spring anybody needed a device which at that point was a Chromebook on the district provided that and will continue to provide that one of the things that we are asking is that anyone who did not need a Chromebook you're using your own device we're going to sure that you get a Chromebook which is are the district handing that out to you and then what we are also asking that we did similarly in the spring is it if you have any Wi-Fi connections that you don't have enough groin bandwidth you know to have too many internet too many devices going to internet you need something from us we will provide any of those wifi-spots to our families so that it's not a purse it's not a burden is not a hardship that our students can get into the classroom and they can do what they I need to be successful so if there's anyone who still is in need of that during to reach out to the buildings the buildings will Direction they have exactly what you need and we'll be able to work through that for you so please don't hesitate if you need that students were coming in the fourth and fifth you're ready very smelly one Google classroom and that will be the platform that will still be used on for those of you coming into 3rd grade don't worry about it your teachers will work very closely with you we will go through doing every we can to make you feel comfortable so none of this is as of September 9th this is all into a fact we're going to work through so slowly little at a time to make sure everyone is comfortable on the great for any parent does not know how to get into the grave portal find some tutorials be able to help you with all of that so we're going to try and go through the helping you however we can but knowing that we're not asking you to teach the child this we're just asking you to make sure that if there's anything you need as a parent Guardian your family decimal see what we can do our next size we're going to call her how to link this is just as little I YouTube videos that if a child come soon as I don't remember how to go into Google classroom and you want to be able to leave this year's right then and there you can go through click on any of these and they will help you with this now we have student emails here for 6:12 you're going to what you're going to notice is going to be some information in this PowerPoint that is not unique 235 or even pertains to 35 what we try to do do a presentation it is k12 and just put the some of the spins in there that would be directly to 35 which is why we have r235 principles in here so some of this might not pertain to you but if you have children in multiple grade Van Buren One Stop Shop in Bradley going through various presentations okay thank you so now it's all set up good evening, this is a very proud and Rogers Elementary School tonight I want you to take a moment to let you know that the schedule because we are opening fully remote is the same schedule that the students had in the spring so that makes it easy peasy for everyone there's really one slight difference how we used to work on an Acer s cycle for the Fine Arts we're working on a 124 cycle so it'll be two days of PE and then two days of our depending on what trimester you had the clap the course is during that time after the reason that we needed to do that is when we transition into the hybrid we need to have the Fine Arts hybrid learner who got you'll find will be the only so we're going to ask that your student wake up every morning and is ready and set to go on as Miss small said that they're going to have their own source to work space at home and have a good breakfast and you're going to get them ready for the day they're going to virtual meet resume with their classroom teacher when home starts and each features but I don't want to worry about each teacher is going to set an individual schedule with each student meaning that they will know here's when I login for homeroom cured with my math mini lesson is he was with my literacy mini lessons yours when I have basic skills here's my have ESL so they're going to do individual I schedules for every single student and then the day runs through as normal 325 and I think they have that half hour they have that half hour for lunch they're going to have their Fine Arts they're going to meet your specialist so our skin are librarians, excetera those parents that are 4th and 5th grade parents they should feel very typical because it's what they were used to on before we went out in March and and for the third grade parents we do have an orientation set up an alarm for 2 p.m. September 8th where you'll get an opportunity to chat with and your child be able to chat with the home on speaker so they can get you acclimated and comfortable so the schedule will be quite similar to what you're used to I wanted you to know everyone we're expecting the students are going to show up unless you're sick were there something wrong we need them there so that we can keep them if you were getting breakfast and lunch through the school we are still to be offering that so we do want you to make sure that you see Justin's every morning and they have that lunch break mid-afternoon but if you were working with the school to get lunches were doing that with Chartwells we will be able to about 5 days at a time and we were working it out of Jean r&m today the superintendent will send something out I believe it's still going to be in changing are so that won't change either we're trying to create a schedule that you know it expect every day so every day is done 9:10 Mass near Essen and then the student goes and does independent were we don't want anyone not the keys there will be opportunities screen time with the teachers but then there's opportunities for them to do independent work and work in different ways so it's not going to be screen time everyday all day because that wouldn't be good for them and then just remember that all of our teachers are going to do everything they can to help your child learn and grow so I'm going to just go I want to piggyback on one of things in a celceta said so one of the things were very mindful of is that especially adults we know that it's a working from home we become a little bit sedentary so we're sitting a lot more frequently than we typically would and so our students so if all the sudden the middle of a math class you see your child get up and do jumping jacks or walk around know that that's some of the things that we are putting in our schedule into our teaching and lessons because we know that there's a need for them to get up and just stretch so that their further mind is back and he's so we don't want you to open to worry about all the have your child gets up in the middle of the class. So they assigned times for that so then the next thing you want to talk about is grading and assessment and what we want to do so we know there was some concerns in our crisis learning and teaching spring with grading that we had some parents rightly so we're a little taken aback that basically as soon as you are passing or an incomplete face them whether they showed up or if they did some work one of the things that we are going to try to get back to some basic is being able to create x 4 assessment pieces though the assessment pieces may look a little bit differently different this year we're going to create assessments so that we really can check to see student progress student learning are they keeping up toothpaste are they above where they should be can we extend some lessons we have to remediate some lessons so we're going to be putting in some of these what we call formative and summative assessments throughout the day and this is going to be on sometimes a little bit differently that would have said if you look at our second on bullet we talked about written verbal and small groups one of the things that we looked at is that we're going to move away from the from the zoom I'm sorry from them has helped me out with my wording I go to the Google meet and get into Zoom or because I'm now is educationally friendly and within our tzumi were able to create what they call a small group mornings with your breakout room and Within These breakout rooms we can create small groups of students can work together and we can also go through and create individual ice cream so we see that a child is going to conference with the teacher or even as Michelle says that sometimes are going to be off screen that you might put a timer there saying 15 minutes you're going to come back and we can do a rundown of a timer in there so we're going to have all of those opportunities in there and we're really going to encourage that you really do look at what's going on with the students and in their grave on a regular basis so that we can start making sure that the students are taking ownership for where they are and what they're doing and we're going to take every time that there's an issue that something can being on time please reach out to your teacher first and then we can go through the administrators if need be but what we're trying to do is say that if we have a deadline going to try to have students at here to that deadline and then we're going to talk we talk about this learning agreement contract one of the things that we are going to do a little bit differently than we did in the spring is we are going to require that students in pictures are showing their face on the screens and the reason for that is this is one of those formative assessments that we go through and use to determine our kids with us know where they shaking their heads or thumbs up thumbs down are they going through showing answer the teacher acid just so that we can go through until we heard a progress monitor so we're going to go through and do as much of that as you can. understand it sometimes students don't want people to the rest of the class to see what's in their background do they have a poster up there for the sharing a room with a brother and sister we understand all those things so what we are trying to make the first couple days backdrop that can be their favorite picture could be a sports team could be the beach whatever it is they like where the teaching how to do that so they don't have to worry about what kids are going to see in their homes so that and then all that shown on the screen as their faces so we're going to go through that well that we're going to ask that students are on time we're going to say the classes are going to start on time when I go through this and the one thing that were going to be stressing with their teachers that talk to their classes about is it weird to say this is a judgement-free zone that somebody has a question somebody's concerned about something it's okay to ask and we're going to make sure that we recognized that each individual is coming in with their own background the other network slide as well because we do want to make sure that we take care of one another in this is you as parents and families and Guardians and is also for kids and for a teacher's because if we can take care of ourselves when we bring our students into the classroom setting then we're going to make sure they can have fun and they want to be there and that's when you're going to have to be the best that they can be I get evening everyone this is Robert. what I tell parents you should honestly start the day by asking questions about what's happening with the child's game what subjects do you have what test do you have similar what you would do if your child were getting on the school bus coming to do the same thing that you wouldn't normally do at home I'll need to get energy up for our children at that day begins simple reminders if they have protect you may want to take the time for the tampon go over the capitals breakfast or something like that at the end of the day close out your time in a similar way you know how was what were the struggles and what do I need to reach out what do you need flowers about is the most important I knew you over dinner or what happened to find out what's working without working immediately reach out to us we're here to support you in any way that is possible so no tickets can be a struggle so we want to walk route to Strong so going on we back and we had to do a diamond shaft by psychiatrist and please make sure you're keeping up with those things moved child's teacher it's important lighting body said earlier Anderson small small that we need to make sure that we're no being accountable for the things that were asking us to do as much as possible so whatever is that can be done before dark if he's very helpful and then the last thing reaching out your child's teacher and school for support every why is on our website so I ask that you please go to your school but side are numbers on the website that you can wait to see emails on the website teacher emails from the website and everything that you need is there on our website reach out to us if you don't have our phone numbers they will be coming home in our packing stuff in this week so please take a look at those and keep them near and handy so that way if you do need before we're able to get in contact with you right away please always give us those 24 hours to respond to you obviously you know we're all going to try to get back to you much sooner by the standard time in the tissue yes is 24 hours from ignition on links that you can take a look at that airdrop the district so please do take a look at them they're very important information that will help you have a very smooth transition as we begin this music Google thank you I just wanted to jump in and let parents know that we did do Tech distribution yesterday and today if you were unable to make it please contact the Schools main office either pld or DNR and also I wanted to let you know that house rules we have some supplies for your skin such as to masks that the district is supplying to your child agenda books folders so during the week of September 14th will be orchestrating a distribution day and it off who's serving as a little bit of a meet and greet with the teacher because each teacher can be making a little bit of an envelope care package for home and they're going to be the one I'm waiting on to you and your child that you can bring your child so they can see physically see their child in the car it will be a contact list contact their teacher Spieth get a couple of goodies from school so anxious the left side was basically the links that mr. He has had talked about that you can easily when you receive this presentation that you can easily I refer to this and have your links there as well so there a couple questions ever coming through their soul I'm about to send this presentation will be up on the school's website so you will have access to this so that you do have access to those links and anything that we talked about and we heard a lot throughout this whole cougar experience about the hero better around the country and are in our state what we're trying to create here is that our families are teachers or administrators that we become Heroes to our students in the supportive environment that we're trying to create for knowing that it is a little bit different educationally than what the students would typically be doing and we think if we continue to work together we're going to give them the best experience possible it's not going to be as just getting through a year it's going to be us. a student's to flourish through this and we really believe with all of us in this together and using what other resources that are available and we really can have this be a really good positive you're all those in education and then our last slide in a sometimes it can sound a little bit corny but we really believe that no we are learning together that we are in this together and we will get through this together this is not just saying this is something that we really know together we're going to make this the best year that we can so what rhyme going to ask if you now is that we have about 6 minutes remaining where I'm going to ask that if you can go through Professor with hoping that this was informative for you that this is something that you can at least leave it meaning saying I feel better I understand where we're coming from things are live the clear and those are you still have questions I'm going to ask you to take some time to write in the chat any of your questions you have and again I'm going to tell you that we have the answers to those questions or anything that is curriculum instruction that we discuss today we will have those answers in the Q&A on each district document and that will be there before the end of the week and we will also have there any questions that you were going to resent to us and perhaps are not questions for this committee we will make sure it gets to the correct person and they can answer that I also want to make sure that anyone who has special education questions as a reminder that there is a special education meeting tomorrow night and that's posted on the district website as well any of the questions that you have regarding anything that has to do with special needs for your I'm child if Dad is the perfect opportunity to go there to hear some what they are bringing out so I'm going to go through and just ask you to take the next four minutes to write your questions and as you write your questions feel free to just log out will give you about about five and five minutes right by about 5:30 I'm going to close out the link so at that point you will not be able to write any more questions in the chat thank you for joining us and have a great night
