NJ FamilyCare Insurance

The State of New Jersey has made a commitment to provide universal health insurance to children and affordable options for parents with the recent signing of new legislation. P.L. 2008 Chapter 38 mandates that all children age 18 and under have health insurance. A child enrolled in school insurance only will not satisfy this mandate.

A child's health insurance coverage can be provided through an employee-sponsored plan, an individual plan or NJFamilyCare, which provides free or low cost insurance for children and parents.

The New Jersey Department of Education is currently working in consultation with the Department of Human Services to help identify uninsured students in an effort to help families access health insurance to improve the health of the students attending our schools.
