we will be sending you the presentation when I say sending ashes and say that we will be placing the presentation on the school website and we won't have at the end of this time for you to write questions that you still have that we may be answer this time and instruction we will make sure that we posted within the next couple days and you will have answers there if there is something that does not pertain to this will make sure that whoever can answer the question just as a reminder they're just as a notification for you there will be a special needs meeting for any students and parents are interested in what is going on in the special education world and that will be Thursday at yeah man that is on the website my last meeting I'm thinking this day is Wednesday and I said tomorrow so I have a couple parents will probably going to be attending because my days of the week are messed up so I wasn't sure I said that the correct way to start out there so we're going to start out as I said to the presentation and so I may be sharing your screen so just if you start seeing something that you'll know this is where we are and one of the things that we are trying to come across is it make sure especially in the K2 and then I'm going to chat in on this a little bit we want to make sure that our parents don't feel that they're in this alone and that your job is to educate Darius your children who want to be a partner our teachers will be doing the teaching we're going to ask you this to help support if you see your child struggling if you see your child having a real tough to reach out to your cheapest Teacher Reach administrators and we'll talk a little bit more context would be so we just want to make sure that we give you resources if your child comes home let me see if I can help them and I don't have to go to next level but if you don't have your opportunity to do it or you are stuck by all means reach out and what we also want to make sure that people are aware of it anything that we're talkin to you tonight we will be sharing with our students will be training them none of this will be put into place on the first day of school even the first week of school will be training them each day so that there's a comfort level that hopefully within the first couple weeks there is this is great I love them back in school Even though three modes and that's really where our job is to make sure that our kids to come as comfortable awesome so it was in our second screen that we're going to show you is we tried to create a very user-friendly space that if you only want to go back and look at one thing in the presentation and you don't open he's will just take you to whatever slide that you are that you were trying to refer to what is the messages for kindergarten parents this is all new to you so that has its own set of anxiety but for those of you who are I'm coming in as first and check Raiders are going to see that we really went through a series of crises learning and teaching in the spring because a lot of this was so brand new possibly plan for every expectation there we've had a lot of time over the summer figure out some of the things that did not work and correct them and we had time to figure out the things that did work and how we can better prepare so that all of our students and teachers can benefit from this and we've also done a lot of homework over the past several months to be able to say what do we have to put into place so that our students aren't feeling that this screen is getting in the way as much as you know it it does sometimes cuz it's that live person is not there so we are going to make sure that every single day your child will have to buy them structure and we'll talk a little bit ago but there's not going to be a day or even a time. That your child will not have access to your teacher and being able to do what it is the kids do Baptists in Rochester next thing I asked you to do is partners with us as parents Guardians and family is if it's possible within your home some type of student work space for your child because but we've noticed over time is that a child comes into the classroom if she's ready to work they know this is full time so we're going to see if there's a way that you can take a pay stub portion of whether it's living room near kitchen your dining room any space that you have to make this that when it's at your child goes into the space they know this is school time and that'll give them a sense of ownership digimax vacations this is my least amount of distraction we know sometimes that's not always possible especially if you're working from home you have other children in the house but as much as possible that's what we're going to eat that we can accomplish I talked a little bit about the resources that we provide to you so for those of you who've been in the district you know that in the spring we made sure that everyone had a Chromebook or some device to work we are still in the midst of working Our Hope was to have an iPad in the hands of every day to student as the year began unfortunately with Ovid some of the materials are backward so we're not going to be a successful doing this day one school but we are going to be successful be able to get some type of a device what is a Chromebook or an iPad in the hands of every student K2 so that they can have that instructions. And they're not at a disadvantage next big thing with this one is said if you are experiencing any type of hardship that you can't connect to Wi-Fi from your home were there too many devices connected ever it is if you need some type of a hotspot to get connected reach out to the building administrators they've already put some feelers out who needs it but if you have not gotten that or you did not realize that you should respond respond so that your child has access to everything that every other child would one of the things that we are transitioning from is going from Google meet as our entire play educational platform to zoom in and zoom it now has an educational platform that will allow us to do many more things that Google has not been able to do so for our teachers who have become so accustomed to be able to deal with things individually they don't have to look at them all in the screen little way we are right now they will be able to do breakout room and do smoke with learning and small group activities also be able to go through and create individual classrooms that they can do some one-on-one conferencing with students still be able to make the student screen black with a timer the same 5 minutes turn to come back after you read this so they're going to be an opportunity to be able to engage with one another and we're trying make sure that we can make this a free sound experience is next side will contain all of these are linked at these are links it if a child comes mama don't even know how to get on sea salt or Dad please help me with the zoom lie and you feel that you're as you want to look at this and see if you can help them to just simple YouTube videos to help you out but it's back at the teacher and they will be in help you hi everyone it's this is like house key up for those of you that don't know me on the principle of worth of Walter Steve School summer to talk a little bit about the schedule that was put together we did share out the case through to schedule via email if you did not receive that the live here or in the presentation I'm so and also on the website there's a lot of updates on the website as well so as Miss small share this will definitely be different from the spring on some students will have live instruction from their teacher and will be fun going to school day schedule so although the lessons will have that live teaching peace be the technology students will definitely be participating in a lot of tasks that are not Tech base they're also going to have opportunities to get up move do small group instruction get the small group support they also will have fine arts classes this year they will have physical Edge patient for the entire school year but the fine arts classes were broken up into half year so for the half year students who participate in computers and art and the other half of the year they will participate in which is science technology math and engineering and music so that way we have specific Fine Arts teachers working with specific groups of kids remotely again and the Fine Arts teachers will integrate flyback content-area through their lessons so that multiple disciplines will be addressed and they will also have lessons from the librarian the social emotional specialist in the world language teachers last year we did some things with the Virtual Field Trips that the Librarians put together and we are looking to do that again on to provide enrichment experiences for our students students will have a block of time for lunch and for a play in their home and we did schedule meeting greets for September 8th virtual meet and greets in the morning those times have been setup so at that time the individual teachers would really go through that all the teachers will be published to the parent portal at the latest by Friday and we're hoping to do that a little sooner if possible and we also have our mailings out so you should be receiving your mailings on in the near future that will give you some more information about the teacher and the meet and greet and all that stuff but again miss folks and I already sent out an update to be prepared for that first day of school when kids were supposed to be coming in now that cheap use that for a meet and greet time next time we definitely with our schedule we definitely recognize and cater to that parents have to be our partners in Edge eating our District's youngest students so new for this year we did purchase iPads as the small headset for all of our K through 2 students so every student in kindergarten through second grade will be issued a district ID I'm so with this the tool out of the iPad we're really hoping that that will Foster more Independence for kindergarten through second graders because they'll be able to navigate the ABS versus going on and you know having to use different website so we're really excited about that we also have goguardian software so teachers will be able to see what's happening on those iPads and support those students believe that the iPad will be a significantly better tool than the Chromebook so if you were issued a Chromebook during the distance learning in the spring if you're in person second grade we lasek to continue to use that Chromebook if we received the iPads on asthma small said uticaod there were delays and getting them a however for a kindergarten students coming in we did have some iPads on so we will be able to distribute iPad to all of our kindergarten students are not the latest and greatest but they are functional iPad and it is soon as we get the new iPads we would swap out to make sure that everybody has the up-to-date and functional iPad so again will distribute on September 8th if you are a student that does not if you are a parent of a student that does not have a device to start the year in first second grade we did send out a survey for that I'm asking those parents to fill that out and we are going to arrange pick-up for those families I'm needing a computer and again your school is here to support you with technology if they I just call us and we will help you get what you need to know whether it's getting internet connection and things like that we're here to help you with that so if you need support just let us know and again the iPad we're going to be sending something out very shortly we're going to have a schedule for September 8th in the afternoon of a schedule for people to follow for kindergarten for first and second graders need a device to start lawyer we will contact you and let you know the pickup time for your device and then in regards to if your child teacher is absent I'm going to turn over to the small Pikachu what about that you're so we know that throughout the year we will have circumstances where your child will be absent and we have circumstances where his teacher may be absent so we are looking into how many substitutes you will have because best shopping in a remote world is very different than subbing in a classroom so we actually had a meeting tomorrow be guarding the number of Subs that we will be able to take him we're also going to be asking the building to check is there a way that in some of these cases that we can have teacher cover each other if it's a small portion not for the day but we're small portions we will have a definitive answer on what happens if all the sudden you get notification that the small is out and she is your child 2nd grade teacher and will be able to save you this is what is going to happen here is where your child is going to be the fortunate thing with zoom is it we have the zoom account any teacher would be able to go to in there to support your but more will come from that but you I know that that is something that we still are in the planning as to how we will approach that there will be so that as far as breakfast and lunch options there will be breakfast and lunch options offered to our students similar to what occurred in the spring so if you were in school during the spring time are food services provider chart was at various sites throughout the district that families could go to pick up breakfast and lunch on they would share all of the details regarding are the prices and the locations they were just waiting to get that information from Chartwell but there will definitely be site in the district that will be providing breakfast and lunch for families an Xbox queso in cards to student attendance in K2 we do understand that there will be challenges associated with joining live sessions due to home situation that may occur a right on things that might have been your child lightning more time getting ready you know. They might have something that happened to the home that you need to attend to and that's why in kindergarten through second grade it is so very important to communicate these things to the teacher store teachers in Hurst are aware of that the age of the students and the things that you know may be occurring with those children the extra time and care that they may need when it comes to certain things so it's really really important on to communicate with you child's teacher so if there's any challenged as you're facing I'm obviously they're going to be times when your children are going to be absent from school even in the remote World they may not feel well they may have an appointment that they have to go to it maybe a holiday in your after whatever those reasons we ask you to still report those absences to the parent portal or by calling the school to let us know that you will not be attending remote school. But if there's things like appointment in the morning the whole day is not against you if you can come and join the class you know and be late for the day for revolt learning so you know we really want to work with the families and we want to help you soap there's anything any is that your face thing related to attending you know the the virtual needs and attending the classes please let us know we are here to help you were here to support you on and we will work together to ensure that that ended is delivered to the children and other able to to do the assignments that they need to be successful in their grade level and you will notice it on this rain there's information here about losing credit this presents when is meant for K-12 so if you have a child outside of the K2 World you'll have the same information on here regardless of the grading your child but we are trying to work cuz you're trying to just do a little more emphasis on what is in the K2 world is as we're speaking to you so when you see some things in the presentation that don't pertain to you don't worry about that one of our next thing we want to talk about his grading and assessment in the spring we went through and basically students either passed or failed if they attempted to work if they tried to work with we are bring back some more traditional way of grading with some upgrades because there was some things that happened in the string that taught us there additional ways out there to be able to help support kids and be able to track their progress to see whether or not you know they're learning in a way that is doable for them are they progressing as we move along the trajectory and are they mastering some Concepts so we are putting into effect some traditional ways of grading as well as with resume aspect we will be able to go through in the chat and ask a question as soon as respond to us we will be able to go through having students share presentations on here but as we already discussed it will have small groups that students will be what to do in breakout sessions to actually go through and respond to some type of prompts or something that the teacher is bringing we will ask the parents and Karina would encourage you to make sure that you are checking the Grade Portal or checking in with your teacher with your child's teacher to check the progress and is there anything that they're missing you know how can we support you as his authority as he said it several times it comes down to how can we be your partner how can we help your child in Any Which Way Reach Out we are here for that one of the things that we will also be doing differently this year than we did in the spring is we are going to ask that every child show his or her face on the screen during the live sessions and what this does is this that the teachers will be able to see through the facial expressions and do a thumbs up thumbs down all of that to say whether or not the children are able to keep up with the teacher or do you have to go through and reinforce play something reach each or are we ready to move on so that's the reason for the visibility on there we also will go through asking that as much as possible based on this is our County Sheriff to get students on time that when morning starts at the kids are up and ready to go through there one of the things we know that sometimes students become all I don't want them to see my backed up I don't want them to see that we're going to teach the kids how to go through and put a different backdrop on your choice a picture of the beach or they my picture of his famous works and how to do that so that they aren't self-conscious about sometimes their surroundings that we're doing we will go through and continue to emphasize how that we how we are cool how we make sure that we don't judge students who don't judge one another when it comes time for us to ask questions and try to get supports or above the answer questions that this is a learning atmosphere for all students involved here so this is the silver soon we'll talk about how we knew things very similar to what I did to start this there will be times that all of us have during the middle of a meeting and your child might need to use the restroom where they meet may need to go get a drink or just the get up and stretch the teacher will be able to tell your child if you need to use the restroom just raise your hand in Zoom is a raise the hand feature you'll be able to go through just give the teacher too subtle notion that they have to do something and we will teach your child how to do that without any issues and on the bottom of this screen and the next one you're going to have the same thing one of our our deals for this whole remote thing is we want to take care of kids who want to make sure that we help take care of family sit there when I put additional stress on them we filled if we can go through a check on the social emotional aspect of learning we're going to make sure that we bring students in to have fun and want to be here in the classroom with us so we're going to just as much as we can as well everyone looks so a good way to support your child's progress and stay connected is to check in with your child by asking questions in the morning and at the end of the day and some questions for art K-2 students might be what was your favorite part of the day was hard what was one new thing that you learned and I really recommend giving asking specific questions because as parents we know when we say how was your day we get sign or what yeah what did you do today nothing so it really helps us to kind of dig in and get those answers are both for remote learning as we saw that is to partner with you and with the parents and families to ensure that your child is successful and not expected to serve as your child's teacher however in the first few weeks they're going to need some adult support as they learn to use the various platforms and programs sweetheart you to check in with your child and mine are there regularly and if they're struggling please don't hesitate to reach out to their teacher right away your teachers are there to work with you and develop a plan to help get your kiddos on track I'm so glad I mentioned we're here to partner with you and support you to ensure a child success and we're here to answer any questions you might have so please feel free to reach out to your child's teacher guidance counselor school principal assistant principal Anytime by email or phone and we will do our best to get back to you as soon as we can certainly within 24 hours also at the bottom of the screen there are links to the district covid-19 guy well as the wellness newsletter they'll be published periodically and both of those provide information that might be useful as you and your family continue to adjust to the changes from the pandemic and to prepare for an eventual return to school and again I can't stress enough that we're here for you and want to answer any questions that you might have still on this screen you're going to see links to contact information for each of the building's main office administration and guide and then we've been talkin about about being partners and we talked to that we saw a lot on the news throughout the summer about the heroes that work in our country and in our towns and we are hoping that this year our parents our families are administrative our teachers we will become Heroes to our students and as partners we give them the best possible experience they can have what is a remote world or whether it's a wide world we think we really can accomplish that through this year with all the planning that has taken place knowing that we are learning together that were in this together and we will get through this together this is not just something that we're going through the motions we do both that we have created the atmosphere and the environment and the planning be able to make this the best year we can for our students and with you we really believe that we can accomplish thank you everyone for what's the coming tonight to give you about five minutes to be able to write any questions that we might not have answered in the chat we will not I'll be answering the questions now they're a couple questions are ones that some people are answering as the check was on but any question but you have we will put as I said in an FAQ document to make sure gets on the website and be able to answer all of those in a timely fashion and feel free to reach out to anyone once these questions go out if you have additional questions anyone coming into this being confuse or nervous or anxious this is all going to work out and it's going to be a really positive experience for all of our kids so I'm going to give you a few minutes and then I'll give you a one-minute warning over here thank you all for attending
