What an incredible night celebrating Family Literacy and Hispanic Heritage Month!
Families enjoyed dinner, connected with teachers, and joined a virtual author talk with the talented Kat Fajardo, creator of Miss Quinces and other inspiring graphic novels.
Students and families also explored fun activities and crafts inspired by graphic novels — plus some lucky participants took home prizes, and all attendees will receive a signed copy of Miss Quinces!
Thank you to the EWEA for sponsoring this event.

Mrs. Hooper, a sixth-grade ESL teacher at Melvin H. Kreps Middle School, had students create a heritage quilt. This featured the flag of the country the students were born in, how to say hello in their native language, and a favorite cultural food OR cultural celebration! The students then presented their quilt piece to the class, and they put it all together to make something beautiful!

Join us in thanking our amazing teachers and students who bring the arts to life every day.
