Ethel McKnight School is celebrating Read Across America Week with a donation-based Book Swap designed to spread the joy of reading among students in grades K–2.
Families are invited to send in new or gently used books appropriate for elementary-aged students. Donations will be collected in the school library by Ms. Halat and Ms. Rivera during the week of February 23–27, 2026. The following week, students will have the opportunity to select a “new-to-them” book to take home and keep.
While donating is encouraged—especially multiple books to help ensure every child receives one—it is not required for a student to participate.
The Book Swap is a wonderful way to promote literacy, encourage sharing, and build excitement around reading throughout the EMK community.
