Welcome to the Health Office!
Keeping Our Community Healthy & Safe
Dear Grace Norton Rogers Families,
Please review the important health reminders and requirements below to ensure a smooth, healthy start to the school year.
Requirements for Incoming Students
Immunizations: All preschool and transfer students must have up-to-date immunizations prior to the first day of school.
Healthcare Plans: If your child has an allergy, asthma, or any other health condition, please contact me as soon as possible so we can establish a formal plan of care.
Preschool Flu Vaccine Requirement (NJ Law)
According to New Jersey State Law (N.J.A.C. 8:57-4.19), all children ages 6 months through 59 months attending preschool must receive at least one dose of the influenza vaccine annually between September 1 and November 30.
Important Deadline: Please submit proof of your child’s flu vaccine from their doctor as soon as you receive it. If proof is not received before November 30th, 2026, your child will not be able to return to school.
Medication Administration at School
School nurses are not permitted to dispense any medication (including over-the-counter items) without a formal doctor's order.
If your child requires medication during school hours, please ensure you provide:
The medication in its original prescription bottle.
The required completed paperwork signed by your healthcare provider.
The 24-Hour Rule: When to Keep Your Child Home
*Strict School Policy
Do not send your child to school if they are sick. Students must be completely fever-free for a full 24 hours—without the use of fever-reducing medication (like Tylenol or Motrin)—before returning to school. This same 24-hour rule applies to vomiting and diarrhea.
Our Top Lines of Defense
The CDC recommends an annual flu vaccine for everyone 6 months and older as the best way to prevent the flu. At home, please practice and talk to your child about these healthy habits:
The 20-Second Scrub: Wash hands frequently with soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds (the time it takes to sing "Happy Birthday" twice).
The Elbow Cough: Cover coughs and sneezes into the inside of the elbow or into a tissue (and throw the tissue away immediately).
Hands Off: Avoid touching eyes, nose, and mouth.
Immune Boost: Ensure your child gets plenty of rest and eats a well-balanced diet.
Snacks & Hydration
Please remember to pack a daily snack and a refillable water bottle for your child.
Important Note on Water: Our school water fountains are now bottle-refilling stations only. Students must bring their own refillable water bottle to school every day in order to get water.
