Health Benefit Q&A

Q:  I am turning 65 years old soon.  I am still employed by the district.  Even though I have health insurance, do I still have to enroll in Medicare? Which part do I enroll in so I do not get hit with a penalty?

A:  As Medicare coverage is a personal question, the district does not generally comment or recommend courses of action.  However, this public page from the Social Security Agency is a great reference for any questions.

Q: Does the district automatically enroll me in health benefits?

A: No. It is your responsibility to complete the health benefits forms so you can elect the plan that best fits your needs.

Q: Where do I enroll for benefits?

A: You can locate all enrollment forms on the page you are looking to enroll in. Please print all forms and send them via interoffice mail to the Benefits office or scan and email them to Lisa Tate at [email protected]

Q: What if I do not need health insurance because I am covered by someone else?

A: The East Windsor Regional School District offers a waiver payout for those who do NOT elect our insurance. Please be sure to fill out and sign the waiver form and attach your medical and dental cards. You may choose to do a partial waiver as well. Please note the waiver payout is taxable.

Q: I just had a baby, got married, finalized a divorce, or had another type of life event.  Is there a time limit to make a change to my insurance coverage?

A. Yes. The rule among all carriers is that you have 31 days from the date of the event to add somebody to coverage.
