Hightstown High School Counseling Department

Our Mission

The Hightstown High School Counseling Department utilizes an inclusive school counseling curriculum that is an essential and integral component of the educational program. Our department provides a comprehensive counseling program that focuses on academic, career, and personal/social development that is driven by student needs, data collection, and district goals. The school counseling program is delivered through the implementation of classroom and group lessons, small group counseling, individual counseling and collaboration with stakeholders. This tiered system of services is inclusive to all students while being responsive to individual student needs.

As student advocates, our counselors recognize the uniqueness, dignity and personal worth of each individual. They understand that knowing students well is essential in helping them achieve academically. Each interaction starts with an understanding that the counseling relationship requires an atmosphere of trust and confidence between student and counselor. Counselors serve in a unique capacity as advocates for students, partners for teachers and liaisons for parent/guardians to support each student’s ability to contribute at the highest level as productive members of society.
